About this activity
During Iceland’s summer months, the sun doesn’t fully set, meaning the nights are bright with the so-called midnight sun. Take advantage of the ethereal light, and head to the Whale Watching Centre at Reykjavik Old Harbour for your nighttime adventure.

On board your boat, take a seat in the saloon or out on deck. While the sun doesn’t dip at night, the temperatures do, so make sure you have warm clothes (or use the provided coveralls) if you plan to keep watch from the deck. Watch a short multimedia show to learn about the whales of Iceland and other marine life, or, if you prefer, you can see this when your boat docks back at port.

Then, you’re away! As your boat cruises away from the harbor, look out for all the wildlife you might expect to see during a day trip; harbor porpoises, humpback whales, mink whales and white-beaked dolphins are just a few species you may be lucky enough to see. Enjoy the soothing sound of the water, whales and birds when the boat’s engine is shut down, and have your camera ready to capture the sights.

After roughly 2.5 hours on the water, return to the start point where your evening whale tour ends.
