About this activity
This day trip departs from Reykjavik in the morning; after picking you up from your centrally located Reykjavik hotel we head North to the historic area of Borgarfjordur. Here we will visit the most powerful hot spring in Europe, Deildartunguhver, as well as the very picturesque Hraunfossar waterfalls. Hraunfossar are a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming out of a lava field.

The impressive lava cave named Víðgelmir is the largest cave that has ever been found in Iceland, and one of the largest in the world. Created in a volcanic eruption 1100 years ago, it has now been made easily accessible to visitors with walkways and lighting throughout. Expert guides will escort us around the cave, providing information about the geology and history of the cave. The cave tour is suitable for children aged over 4, and is a great experience for both children and adults.

Remember to bring your bathing suit with you as after the cave tour we will stop at the thermal pool in Húsafell for a relaxing soak in the thermal waters before returning to Reykjavik. The pools here at Húsafell are heated by water from nearby thermal springs, and the pool caters to children and adults alike with a water slide, two hot tubs and two thermal swimming pools in a beautiful outdoor location.

There will be a stop for lunch during the tour (own expense) at a small countryside restaurant.
