The Museu Imperial de Petrópolis is a museum in the historic center of Petrópolis, housed in the Petrópolis Imperial Palace former summer palace of Emperor Pedro II (1831–1889), built in 1845.

The museum includes the palace itself, pieces of the monarchical past of Brazil and a temporary exhibition hall dedicated to contemporary art. It is one of the most-visited and was voted the best museum in the country.

The Cathedral of Saint Peter of Alcantara, also known as the Cathedral of Petrópolis, is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the country's patron saint, Peter of Alcantara. The cathedral is also the resting place of the last Emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro II, and his family.

The construction on the Gothic Revival style church began in 1884, and was completed in 1925. The church tower was built in 1969.

The house of Santos Dumont in Petrópolis is a picturesque residence embedded in a steep locality in the city. Santos Dumont received the invitation from Princess Isabel to summer in Petrópolis, during the Empire, and when accepting the invitation decided to build a house that would meet their needs.

The street chosen is called Rua do Encanto and the house was nicknamed "A Encantada".

The house has some peculiarities, as one of its last inventions is the shower with hot water, the only one of Brazil at that time, being heated with alcohol, and also the external staircase where you can only start to climb with the right leg, and the internal that can only be raised with the left leg.

The house has three floors, plus an observatory, over the roof.
