Huge bears were starved in darkness then sent upstairs to chase and feed upon those selected for execution, female gladiators were sent out to kill male dwarves, leopards and jaguars chased heavily-armed chariots, ceremonial elephants stampeded over the injured, mock sea battles were played out as were hunting seasons. Body counts were huge and nothing was off limits.
When you have seen enough of the Hypogeum, you will be free to remain inside the Colosseum if you so wish. Your ticket voucher is also good for entry to the entire Roman Forum and Palatine Hill archaeological areas.
