About this activity
This fully private and exclusive tour covers the greater part of the best of Rome! We have taken great care to select churches which are relatively free of the big tourist groups which plague so many historic places in the city centre. Historic Churches of Rome is for travellers who know that the best way to learn about a new city is through art and architecture.
You will visit five of the most historically significant churches in the heart of Rome, starting with Basilica di Santa Prassede and finishing on Piazza della Rotonda (Pantheon), where you can sit down and relax in a particularly beautiful part of the city. World-renowned art and sculpture by such luminaries as Bernini, Lippi, and Michelangelo will captivate, each and every church a treasure chest of precious creations.
Historic Churches of Rome traverses the historic heart of Rome, so you will benefit from taking a tour within a tour. Many ancient ruins and remains in the Field of Mars (Campus Martius) lie en route.
When a church listed in our itinerary is closed due to acts of God, religious holidays, or other factors beyond our control (closures, however rare, can happen at any time without advance warning), more time will be spent in the next church on the way.
