About this activity
Your roundtrip ride by comfortable shuttle bus begins at 7:30. After a brief stop halfway through, your Pompeii journey begins, where you will have 4 hours of sightseeing to enjoy at your own pace. Walk back into time on cobblestone streets as you pass along the fascinating ruins of Pompeii , with incredible views of the still active Mount Vesuvius in the backdrop.
Make the most of your Pompeii visit when you upgrade to the guided tour. Our experts will share with you the intricate details of this once thriving civilization of Pompeii and its tragic and sudden end.
On August 24th 79 AD, Mount Vesuvius erupted. It would last for two days, completely destroying and burying the town of Pompeii under 13 to 20 feet of volcanic ash and pumice. Some were fortunate enough to escape in time, but the rest of this ancient civilization unfortunately perished. The volcanic ash created a cask, keeping the buildings underneath it relatively intact - the only evidence of Pompeii’s existence.
Highlights include: the amphitheater (Pompeii’s equivalent to Rome’s Colosseum), ancient relics and artifacts, vivid frescoes and detailed mosaics.
Escape into the ancient food shops and bars, public baths , individual homes and villas, bathrooms, and brothels. All while our guide captivates you with the dramatic stories and details of that sad, fateful day.
This walking tour of Pompeii is a memorable excursion and stunning day trip not too far from Rome
