About this activity
Your English-speaking host, Ambra, will be waiting at Piazza del Risorgimento to take you to an authentic local market. Here you’ll begin your immersion into the world of Italian cuisine by learning how Roman locals spot the ingredients that will infuse their dishes with mouth-watering flavor. Those tips will come in handy as you choose your own fresh produce to prepare.

After your shopping trip, your hosts will welcome you into their charming family home, not far from the bustle of the Vatican. Once you’ve settled in with a delicious aperitivo of Italian nibbles and prosecco, the cooking can begin! Your host will share the secrets of perfect homemade pasta, explaining how to work with eggs and flour to make ribbons of tagliatelle and filled ravioli parcels. Two different pasta sauces round out the main course. And to round out the meal, you’ll also learn to make a traditional Italian dessert.

The only part of the meal you didn’t make yourself will be a glass of local wine, provided by your hosts. You’ll be astonished how good food can taste when you’ve made it by hand, from market to table, the authentic Italian way.
