Classical Music Tour with a Musician

About this activity
Hello! My name is Vadim. I am a clarinetist, who performs around Saint Petersburg and I would like to show you the city from a musicians perspective. I am proudly holding a degree from the Saint Petersburg State conservatory and would like to share some historic facts and insights on Russian Classical music history.

Saint Petersburg is a home of Russian classical music traditions. Most prominent musicians and composers lived and even studied here, names such as Modest Petrovich Musorgskiy, Mikhail Glinka (the author of first Russian Opera ever written), Nikolay Andreyevich Rimskiy-Korsakov, Mily Balakirev, Alexander Borodin, Alexander Dargomizhsky and many others!

We would start our tour from the museum of Musical instruments (ticket isn`t included to the tour) and see the unique artefacts and instruments of that era. For a deeper understanding of how Classical orchestra works we are expected to see how the instruments evolved with time. Then we would visit a flat of one of the most famous Russian composers (shh, his name is a secret!) and give a short look to the iconic Mariinsky theatre and Saint Petersburg State conservatory. I`d be delighted to show you the streets Russian composers walked, places they liked and, of course, Music Halls they undoubtedly performed. As a conclusive act, we are about to choose a classical music concert of your choice and head there.

Please be dressed "smart casual" style.
