Pass By: Salzburger Altstadt, Altstadt, Salzburg Austria

Why are so many people enchanted by Salzburg? Is it because of the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the baroque architecture from the times of the archbishops, the spirit lifting Salzburg Festival. Maybe it is the mixture of 1000 years of history with contemporary attractions that makes this city such a hit.

Schloss Mirabell - Dwarf Garden - Mirabell Garden

Why not come and see for yourself! Enjoy a guided tour through Salzburg and see the beautiful flowers of the Mirabell Gardens. From the Rose hill you will have one of the most beautiful views to the Fortress Hohensalzburg. Take some fun pictures in the dwarf garden and stop by the famous "Four Element" Fountain in the centre of the Garden. Schloss Mirabell exists since 1606 and is known for the famous Marble Hall used for concerts and weddings.

Makart square - Mozarts Wohnhaus

At the next square, you will see Mozart's Residence, the Trinity Church and the State Theater. Many buildings from different centuries form this square and are named after a famous painter Hans Makart.

Salzach river and a view into the old town

Walk to the Salzach river and enjoy a beautiful view into the old town of Salzburg. Learn about the "white gold" and how it influenced the development of Salzburg. Explore the historical city centre which lays between the river and the Mönchsberg.

Getreidegasse - Mozart's Birthplace

Let us take a walk along the shopping street. Find beautifull wrought iron signs, arts and craft shops between famous name brands along the narrow street. Spoil yourself with a shopping spree in Getreidegasse after the tour. Mozarts Birthplace is right in the centre of Getreidegasse. Most people stop in front of the big yellow house or choose to visit the Museum. Listen to facts about the Mozart family, their life and career, their faith and their heritage.

University square - Old Market square

We continue through an alleyway to one of the most fun places in Salzburg - the Farmers Market at the University square. This big, baroque church forms an impressive backdrop for the food stands. Do not hesitate to try the local cheese, sausages, fruits and pretzls with some local beer or fresh water.

The Old Market square is surrounded by shops and famous coffee houses. This is a place to enjoy the rest of your day after the tour with a cup of good coffee and freshly made apple-strudel.

Residenzplatz - Salzburg Dom

But for us, it is time to continue the tour to the Residenzplatz. The architecture changes all of a sudden. The small streets and the shops are replaced with big spacious squares, a big Residence fountain in the centre of the square, the Old Residenz and the New Residenz, the Dom square and the Chapter square. Most buildings hold precious treasures and art of Salzburg's history, definitely worth to visit. Take a walk into the Salzburg Dom and find many frescos, altars and organs. The crypt holds many graves from the former Prince-Archbishops and even modern art in an12th century apsis. On the way out we will find the baptismal where W.A.Mozart was baptized.

Fortress Hohensalzburg

At the end of the tour take the funicular to the top of the fortress Hohensalzburg and enjoy the view into Salzburg. From this over 900 year old fortress you can even view the Northern Limestone Alps and on a very clear day you can see the Eagles Nest in the far distance.

My guided tour will give you the insider’s view of the city with tips on how to get the most out of your vacation here. You will learn lots of historical facts along with a few funny anecdotes about Salzburg.
