About this activity
This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Start your experience with a refreshing drink before you join Bobbie in her kitchen to learn to cook an Asian-inspired Californian meal. Roll up your sleeves and learn to cook three dishes while picking up cooking tips and techniques that she has perfected over the years. You can expect the cooking portion of your experience to last about an hour. After cooking, sit down at Bobbie's dining table to enjoy the Asian-inspired Californian meal you helped prepare. Your lunch might include dishes such as a shredded chicken, Asian vegetable and soba noodle soup made with homemade chicken broth and garnished with cilantro, mint and basil, and Japanese spinach gomaae, steamed, rolled spinach sprinkled with black sesame seeds. You will conclude your meal with a homemade seasonal fruit tart served with ice cream. For dinner, Bobbie offers richer dishes that might include a corn soup flavored with fresh ginger, lemongrass and coconut milk, or grilled, sesame-crusted ahi tuna as the main course, with a side of stir-fried Asian greens, all accompanied with steamed purple rice.
