What to Expect

Start the day with a stop at Lake Shikotsu, one of Hokkaido’s famous clearwater lakes. Depending on the season, the changing views are beautiful but ever-changing.

Next head to Silo View Spot and take in the panoramic views of Lake Toya, followed by a stop for ice cream and coffee at the beautiful Lake Hill Farm. This ice cream is some of the best we’ve ever tasted! Next, we’ll drive through Toya itself for a walk along the lakeside.

Finally, move onto Mount Usu and Showa Mountain, an active volcano with a ropeway to the top, surrounded by a mini-village of local crafts and stores. First we’ll grab lunch together here, before taking the ropeway up the mountain and enjoying the short walk at the top to see the lake and ocean views. It’s one of our favourite local spots!
