Stop At: Mount Rainier National Park, 39000 State Rt 706 E, Ashford, WA

This strenuous out-and-back 7-mile hike begins at a little-known backdoor into Mt. Rainier National Park, where you are sure to experience the majesty of Rainier in relative solitude, especially on a weekday.
The trail begins with a gentle rolling ramble through deep forest, but soon begins to emerge into a series of increasingly open meadows until—voila! You are in Grand Park, a broad open meadow flush with wildflowers and the imposing north face of Mt. Rainier and Winthrop Glacier. You are likely to see elk, bears, and other wildlife.
We’ll pause at a ledge overlooking the White River for a gourmet lunch (included) before returning back through Grand Park and the deep forest.
On our return to Seattle, we’ll stop for refreshments at a classic mountain roadhouse or snack bar at your option.
