HOLY WEEK TOUR

About this activity
Holy Week (Semana santa) of Seville, in Andalusia is the most important religious celebration of the city, and one of the most famous of Spain. Like the Feria de Abril which it precedes by a few weeks, it rhythms the annual calendar of the city, which lives during a week at the rhythm of the processions.

It begins on Palm Sunday and ends one week later, on Easter Sunday, for the commemoration of the Resurrection of Christ. During these 7 days dedicated to the Passion of the Christ, 60 brotherhoods (Hermandades and Cofradías) go out in procession to go to the cathedral, to conclude their penitence station, before returning to their starting point.

Each of these congregations leads on its long journey its pasos, those altars carried on the backs of men, richly decorated and which serve as supports for groups carved in wood representing scenes of the Passion. A large crowd of Sevillians, Spaniards and foreigners, believers and non-believers pressed in the streets of the city to gather or simply admire the passage of these imposing processions of penitents, some accompanied by music!

With your guide, you will go around the city, the little streets, and admire the different processions. We will make you enter a church and provide you all the explanations about this celebration. To end the tour, we will go in a bar to enjoy a tapa and a drink !
