About this activity
Visit the oldest and most well protected water village, Zhu Jia Jiao, which is located about 16 miles west of Shanghai downtown. Drive to the water town and visit Kezhi Garden as the first attraction, which was built in 1912. The owner spent 300,000 tales of silver and 15 years in building the garden. The architecture in the garden is a combination of the Chinese traditional and the Western styles, rarely found in the country. Then, take a local boat along the old cannel for even closer looks at the buildings and bridges, such as the 300-year old, Ming-era Fangsheng Bridge. You'll be amazed at the ancient architecture, including the 16th-century Fangsheng Bridge with its five arches, and watery vistas. After the relaxing gondola ride, you will walk and explore closely in the town. As you walk along the narrow streets, you'll visit traditional buildings, old shops, and unique food and handicraft stalls. Then, journey back to Shanghai and get dropped off at your hotel. (In the case of the close of the place, the guide will change for the best.)
