Stop At: Telok Ayer Street, Singapore

Meeting point at D18 Telok Ayer MRT Station (Downtown Line), Exit A.
We begin our tour on Telok Ayer Street, the original seafront where Singapore's early immigrants would disembark after a long, arduous journey at sea.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Thian Hock Keng Temple, Singapore

Our 1st major stop is the Thian Hock Keng. Built in 1842, this is the oldest Hokkien temple and one of the finest traditional southern Chinese architectures in Singapore. Thian Hock Keng is a Hokkien (a Chinese dialect) term and translated literally into “Temple of Heavenly Fortune”. Although mainly a Taoist temple, the Temple also contains aspects of Buddhism, Confucianism and Ancestral Worship.

Stop At: Ann Siang Hill, Singapore

We continue our tour with a short walk up Ann Siang Hill, the highest geographical point in Chinatown, to see and learn about the history and heritage of the Singapore Chinese, including some beautifully conserved shophouses.

Stop At: Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum, Singapore

Our second major stop is the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum (BTRTM).
Be prepared to feast your eyes on Tang-dynasty style architecture, opulent interiors, and exquisite Buddhist icons. Inside the building are 4 storeys of Buddhist sculptures, statues and artefacts.
Located within the main hall on the first level is the imposing and majestic statue of the Maitreya Bodhisattva.
The mezzanine to the third floor features prominent Sanghas, construction process of the BTRTM and the Life of the Buddha respectively.
On the rooftop is a garden where visitors can relax amidst the buzz of Chinatown.
Located on the third floor of the BTRTM is the Buddhist Culture Museum where we will learn more about the historical Buddha, His life story and His major teachings. We will also cover the spread of Buddhism from India to the world and other Buddhist cultures.
