Pass By: Sofia History Museum, pl.Banski 1, Sofia 1000 Bulgaria

Our adventure starts at 9:00 am. We’ll take you from your hotel or the apartment where you stay. Then we leave for Chiprovtsi which is about 2 hours drive from Sofia

Once there, we’ll:
- Learn about the history of this fairy town
- Go back in time when ore and metal output were the main livelihoods of the locals
- Take a look at the result of the mastery of Chiprovtsi’s goldsmiths
- Dig deep into the times of spiritual flourishing of Chiprovtsi when the village was an important spiritual center
- Enjoy the colors of Chiprovtsi’s carpets, learn how they’re being made and try to decipher the codes and messages weaved into them
- See the only still existing collection of plants for carpet coloring in Bulgaria
- Visit the Chiprovtsi Monastery of St. Ivan Rilski – established in the 10th century AD and part of Bulgarian cultural heritage monuments
- Then we’ll have some spare time to take a walk around the town’s roads, see the beautiful houses, feel the fresh mountain air and drink from the spring water taps. For lunch, we can have some traditional local meat cuisine – tinsels, peppers filled with beans, Chiprovska banitza, krem caramel in pumpkin.
