About this activity
A walk through 1700 years of Splits fascinating history. We tour Diocletian's palace focusing on the Emperor Diocletian, examining his early years here in Dalmatia and then discuss his long rule over the greatest empire the world had then seen, culminating in his retirement to the palace over 1700 years ago.
This is a story of Split that includes many actors, each had their exits and entrances ... the pre-Romans, the Romans, the Ottoman Turks, the Venetians, the French and the Austro-Hungarians.
All left rich architectural relics which we examine as we tour Split's beautiful Old Town.
You will witness a live reenactment of the changing of the guards ceremony from May 15 to September 30 - not to be missed.
We end the tour by walking to the viewing point on the Marjan Hill to get come great views over Split
