About this activity
Time-travel to 16th-century Stratford-upon-Avon, and visit the actual school young Will Shakespeare attended. Brush up on your Latin as you take part in a Tudor school lesson, try on some period dress, and practice your penmanship with traditional quill and ink – you'll have the makings of a masterpiece in no time!
Before he became history's most celebrated writer, Shakespeare went to school like the rest of us. Stratford's latest visitor experience explores this lost chapter of the Bard's tale, meticulously restoring his original Guildhall schoolroom to its original condition.
Join Master Thomas Jenkins for an interactive classroom experience (don't be late!), where you'll learn all about the historical teaching methods and subjects the young prodigy would've studied. If you thought your school was strict, you'll be in for a shock!
Don't worry, there won't be any real canings, and you'll have plenty of fun getting dressed up in Tudor finery, playing ye olde games, and scribbling away with a real quill.
Of course, you'll also learn loads about life in the 1500s, and even see the Council Chambers, where Shakespeare saw theater for the first time.
Is this a great day out I see before me? Yes!
