About this activity

This private walking tour explores Ortygia, the old town centre of Syracuse, placed on a small island. It's enchanting for its position and fascinating for its 3000 years of history. From the Apollo temple, the oldest Greek temple in Sicily, the way leads you through the picturesque narrow streets to the Cathedral Square, where it's possible to visit the Catholic church built above an ancient pagan temple. You will then admire the enchanting Fountain of Aretusa near the sea, walk through the less beaten paths of the Jewish Quarter and enjoy the southern lifestyle and the colours of the local fish and fruit market (morning tours only).
