You will enjoy walking through the most picturesque corner of Kakheti, lying on the South-Eastern slopes of Tsiv-Gombori range. The townlet is overlooking Alazani Valley from the height. Its elevation from the Valley is 400 m. The name of the town derives from Turkic word and means ‘shelter’, or, according to other historical sources, ‘invincible’. Taste national Georgian home-made dishes and local wines.

The monastery of St. Nino is located in the village of Bodbe, in the Signagi region, Kakheti. The territory of the monastery is decorated with flower beds and bushes, vineyards and a healing spring. The history of the monastery is closely connected with the adoption of Christianity.

Take a look at almost erased frescoes in the stone Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel. It was designed according to all rules of medieval Georgian architecture with local interpretation of the contemporary Iranian architectural taste. Levan of Kakheti was buried here, whose tomb has a fresco with his image on it. The bell-tower also houses a museum where several archaeological artifacts and the 16th-century cannon are displayed. A secret passage could lead you to the Intsoba. It’s also worth visiting the restored royal castle. There is a museum on the ground floor. The castle has three floors. Perhaps, what stirs curiosity most is a royal toilet.
