Stop At: Jvari Church, Mtskheta Georgia

In the morning your private driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel in Tbilisi and begin an amazing journey to Mtskheta. You will visit the historical monuments of the city. The tour starts by visiting the Holy Cross monastery of Jvari, the outstanding example of medieval religious architecture in the Caucasus. The church is located in the cultural landscape at the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers and overlooks the town of Mtskheta.

Stop At: Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, Arsukidze, Mtskheta 383400 Georgia

Next destination is the complex of the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral which includes cathedral church, the palace and the gate of the Katolikos Melchizedek. The mantles of Christ and of the Prophet Elijah are both preserved in the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.

Stop At: Samtavro Church, Davit Aghmashenebelis qucha, Mtskheta 383400 Georgia

The tour is continued by visiting the Samtavro monastery.

The small domed church of Samtavro monastery was built in the 4th century, there is also the main church of monastery which contains the grave of Mirian III, the king of Iberia, who established Christianity as official religion in Georgia. The historical monuments of Mtskheta are included on UNESCO World Heritage site list.

Stop At: The City-Museum Reserve of Mtskheta, Mtskheta Georgia

You will take a lunch-break in one of the best local restaurants in the city and taste the delicious Georgian dishes. You will be able to take a nice walk in the town or visit the local wine shops.

Stop At: Sioni Cathedral Church, Tbilisi Georgia

Next you will be transfered back to the capital of Georgia -Tbilisi and start the Old Tbilisi Tour.

The city offers a great variety of sights, most of them are very ancient. All the places of interest in the Old Tbilisi are very close to each other, within a few minutes’ walk. Tour starts from Sioni Cathedral (6th-7th centuries), to synagogue and Anchiskhati Basilica,the oldest surviving church in Tbilisi

Stop At: Metekhi Cathedral, Metekhi St, Tbilisi Georgia

The tour is continued by visiting the 13th century Metekhi church, which was built on the top of an older church. Ruined by the Persians in the 17th century, it was consecutively used as military barracks, a prison and a theater before finally being re-constructed and returned to the Georgian church in1980s.

Stop At: Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi Georgia

From the Metekhi church you will be able to go to the 4th-century Narikala Fortress (via cable car) which is located on a forested hill, east of the city and overlooks its historic center and the Mtkvari River.
