You will be picked up by your bilingual guide and driver from any of the La Fortuna-area hotels or rental homes. If it is easier for you, please come by our office in the center of La Fortuna and we can pick you up there. We then drive about 12 minutes from the center of La Fortuna to the entry point of the waterfall. This natural park is run by the local government and proceeds go toward various important community projects. We will cover your entry fee and then you can pop in to use the restrooms or grab a snack.
The more-adventurous types will want to hike all the way down to the bottom of the trail to take in the majesty of this powerful water source that flows from the deep inner sanctuary of the Children's Eternal Rainforest that joins the Monteverde Cloud Forest region. The hike is hardy, but well worth it. When you reach the river, you can take some quintessential waterfall selfies and dabble your feet in the refreshingly cold water and play in the crystalline pools.
When you reach the top of the waterfall, take your time to enjoy the well-curated orchid garden and butterfly play ground, plus some great shots from the lookout platform of the waterfall.
Now's the time to head to the Hunters and Gatherers all you can eat natural buffet right next the El Salto Secret Swimming Hole. Take your time and enjoy your surroundings! This half-day activity takes about 3 hours in total and can be done in the morning or afternoon.
