APOLONIA-PERMET-DURRES:2DAY TOUR

Day 1:Departure from Tirana at 9 am Begin your tour by driving towards the city of Fier. Through the city of Fier and towards the village of Pojan. You will visit Apollonia(UNESCO SITE) an ancient settlement, one of the biggest in the Adriatic area. Wandering in this settlement you will feel relaxed and meditative, through a landscape that little has changed since Antiquity. Apollonia represents one of the most important cities of the Mediterranean world and Adriatic basin, preserved in an exceptionally intact condition 

You will be introduced with the Church of Saint Mary,Archeological Museum-the Odeon, the library and the most photographed monument: the Bouleterion.a Greek theater and a Nymphaeum (a monument consecrated to nymphs).

After, the tour continue towards the city of Permet,throught the cities of Ballsh ,Tepelene and then along the magnificent Kelcyra gorge where we are going to settle for lunch. We will continue along the Vjosa,with mountains on either side of the river before coming to Permeti.

Permeti is a pleasant and clean little town in a lovely setting,sorrounded by mountains and flanked by the river Vjosa.

You will be introduced with:City Rock of Përmet ,It is probably the largest stone that you have ever seen and today is considered to be a monument of culture-The church of Saint Friday (Kisha e Shën Premtes).Free time to explore the city and free dinner into Përmet’s delicious restaurants, where you going to find an authentic Balkan charm.

Day 2:After breakfast, we will head towards the St.Mary church in Leusa(3km from Permet)The Church features outstanding iconography paintings. Probably the most spectacular church in Albania, resembling more an art gallery than a church.The next stop will be the Thermal waters of Benja,A medieval bridge stretches over a sulfur-rich river that leads to year-round natural hot springs. Warm water rushes beneath it, providing a relaxing treat for those who visit.The bridge marks the end of the 5 km long Lengaricë Canyon,Walking towards (and inside) the canyon you will also discover more thermal pools,

Free time to explore or to swim.The baths have healing properties. As such, you may see some locals arriving to bathe there and reap the water’s alleged health benefits. The pools are off the beaten path, though, so you can till expect a fair amount of privacy.

After the lunch in the magnificent Vjosa valley.As you head back to Tirana you will stop in the city of Durres,located in central western Albania. Stop for a coffee to enjoy the beautiful view of the Adriatic Sea, then visit the Durres Amphitheater. Located in the center of the city, it was built in the second century and is one of the largest amphitheaters in the Balkans,and then back to Tirana.
