By joining the Nikko day tour, you will be able to experience the most famous sightseeing spots nearby Nikko. Please come to the meeting point at 7:50 AM, your tour leader will be greeting you at the ground floor of Shinjuku Subaru building just next to the Shinjuku JR station west exit. At 8:00 AM, departure from Shinjuku to Tochigi prefecture, where Nikko city located at.

Around 10:30 AM, you will travel to the first stop on the tour, Nikko Toshogu Shrine. This shrine is the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled Japan for over 250 years until 1868, known as the Edo period. Appreciate the beauty of the shrine complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Learn the interesting stories and legends of the buildings from your guide.

After visiting the Nikko Toshogo Shrine, we will pass through the Iroha slope. It is famous for the 48 sharp curves along the way, and is shown in the animation ”Initial D”. 48 is the same number of the Japanese Hiragana (a type of Japanese alphabet) and the road was named "Iroha-zaka" after the song "Iroha-uta" which uses all 48 Hiraganas without overlapping. The road is very popular for its autumn leaves in the fall.

At 12:30 PM, we will arrive Kegon waterfall. The almost 100 meter tall waterfall is the most famous of Nikko's many beautiful waterfalls. In fact, it is even ranked as one of Japan's three most beautiful falls, along with Nachi Waterfall in Wakayama Prefecture and Fukuroda Waterfall in Ibaraki Prefecture. Kegon Waterfall is also a popular autumn color spot. The trees around the waterfall are usually most colorful from mid to late October. In the winter the waterfall is impressive as well when it freezes almost completely solid.

At 2:00 PM, the tour will be separated to two groups, you could choose according to your preference: You could choose to walk along the Lake Chuzenji. Besides the beauty scenery of the lake, you could find many souvenir shops and café along the lake. Another choice is to experience the Nikko hot spring. Hot spring is a traditional culture of Japan and many tourists would love to experience it.

Before finishing the tour, we will stop by the Onihei Edo service area, which is the most interesting service area with edo style design and traditional souvenirs selling.

At 6:00 PM, you will be dropped back at the Shinjuku Subaru building where your tour will end. Shinjuku is good for a night walk and dinner before going back to your hotel.
