About this activity

1. Arrive at Hashimoto Fuji Kogei, a rattan shop locaded in Saitama City, about a 30 minute train ride from central Tokyo, and meet your instructor.

2. Learn about the process and prepare materials.(5 min)

3. Set about crafting your first coaster with step-by-step advice from the instructor. Don’t worry about slight unevenness as it adds a unique personality to your coasters.(60 min)

4. Craft the second coaster, following the process of your first attempt.(60 min)

5. After the crafting session ends, deepen your understanding of rattan craft by browsing through the store and looking at expertly-crafted pieces, or engaging in a casual chat with the instructor.

Please come with casual clothes suitable for crafting. Bring an apron if you don’t want to get your clothes wet as you will use water during the crafting process.
