Varanasi - Rural and Silk Small Group Tour Including Transportation

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast and drive you out of the city to a traditional village called Chiraigaon. 

Expect a warm welcome from the villagers as they show you around their homes and businesses. Explore the rustic village precinct and witness local farming practices and traditional customs in action. We’ll visit the local temple and stop to savour a warming cup of masala tea. We’ll chat with the locals and get a better understanding of their way of living and learn about their traditions. 

We will then stop at the home of a local family to learn how to make some delightfully spiced home-made pickles. 

After this we’ll pile back into the car and make our way to the famous weavers village of Sarai Mohana. We’ll take a wander around, soaking up the atmosphere before stopping to watch the weavers work their magic, creating world famous silk sarees. 

The famed Banarasi silk sarees made here are the finest in India and are known for their excellent craftsmanship, featuring intricate gold and silver brocade work and opulent embroidery. Indian women wear them for marriages and festivals. You will have an opportunity to purchase one, should you wish. They make great souvenirs and gifts. 

After a busy day discovering the real India, your guide will then take you back to your hotel. Don’t forget to ask what else there is to see and do in this beguiling region.
