About this activity

A pleasant stroll with an expert guide to discover most and less known areas of the city along the area between Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, passing by campo Sant’Angelo and some special places as Scala Contarini del Bovolo Hidden in a maze of streets and canals, very close to Campo Manin with an architectural gem characterized by a style that is among Renaissance, Gothic and Byzantine. You will pass near the famous theatre La Fenice, originally built in 1790. In 1836 a huge fire, probably caused by the malfunction of a stove, destroyed the theatre, but like the Phoenix ('fenice' in Italian) was rebuilt in the same style by Meduna. You will walk out of Palazzo Fortuny. Once owned by the Pesaro family, this large Gothic palazzo was transformed by Mariano Fortuny into his own atelier of photography, stage-design, textile-design and painting. After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of walking tour, you will enjoy a 30-minute gondola ride along the Grand Canal and minor canals.
