About this activity

The Albertina and its art exhibitions are a must see in Vienna. This historic palace of the Hapsburgs is named after Duke Albert, the husband of Duchess Maria Christina, who was the preferred daughter of the empress Maria Theresa of Austria. It was one of few real love marriages, and after the (quite early) death of Maria Christina, Duke Albert dedicated the rest of his life to his great passion for art and the creation of magnific art collections.

You can visit at the Albertina 20 stunning State Rooms that provide an insight into history and every day life of the Aristocratic Vienna.

Moreover, the palace houses an extraordinary collection of paintings and sculptures that range from French Impressionism and Fauvism to German Expressionism and Bauhaus or Russian avant-garde, with masterpieces from Monet and Picasso, Cezanne and Matisse, Modigliani, Giacometti and many other worldwide acclaimed artists.

The other highlight of the Albertina is an impressive graphic art collection - with drawings from Michelangelo, Dürer, Rembrandt, Rubens, as well as Klimt, Schiele, Picasso and other masters - that covers 600 years of art history.

The Albertina also houses the largest and most important Austrian photographic collection, as well as a unique exposition of architectural studies, plans and models.

Each of the museum areas offers every year interesting temporary exhibitions.

The tickets are valid till December 31st 2018 and are not refundable.
